The weather changes every five minutes, the buses have a life of their own, and between research deadlines, classes, and language barriers, even getting a proper cappuccino feels like an achievement. And yet — here we are, all thrown into the same little city on a hill, trying to make sense of it, to find a rhythm, to find our people.
That’s how Meet & Sip was born: out of the simple idea that connection doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes, all it takes is a table, a few mugs, and the courage to start talking.
At Comincenter, we’re setting up a space for anyone who’s curious, open-minded, and just a little tired of scrolling in silence. Whether you’re a PhD student, a master’s student, or someone who just wants to share ideas and laughs in good company, you’re welcome to join.
There’s no big agenda. No PowerPoint. No name tags. Just people who want to feel a little more at home — both in this campus and in this city.
We’ll talk about everything and nothing: research (the kind that keeps you up at night and the kind that keeps you sane), cultural differences, favorite books, music, the best pasta spots in town, or the little daily mysteries of life in Basilicata. You’ll probably meet someone who’s struggling with the same questions you are, or someone who’s figured out an answer you didn’t know you needed.
Because the truth is, the hardest part of starting a new chapter — in a new city, a new country, a new academic path — isn’t the studying. It’s belonging. It’s finding that one place where you can just be, without having to explain your accent, your field of study, or your reason for staying.
So we thought: let’s make that place together.
